The Role
As an Education Support Teacher, the successful applicant would provide pastoral care to our students with diagnosed disabilities. We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in literacy, numeracy, and independent living skills. The successful applicant will need to positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with, and contribute to, the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning, and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning. They will plan, program, and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. Applicants will ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. Prior experience in implementing Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) courses is desirable.
