
We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You should work under general supervision or autonomously and contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement. Applicants will ideally be committed to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice as well as plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which includes collaboration with colleagues. You should also contribute to and maintain a team environment.
The Education Assistant – Special Needs will ideally work with limited guidance to plan, prepare, and deliver work which supports students’ academic, social or behavioural needs and can contribute productively to both goal setting and review processes. They should have the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and agencies to achieve these goals.
Evidence of the applicant’s ability to collect a range of data, complete Functional Behaviour Analyses and to effectively use data to inform practice will be highly regarded.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills, enabling them to work collaboratively within a team to meet the individual needs of students. They should possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and have the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within an inclusive learning environment.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students
