Teacher Registration are seeking to establish a pool of Education Officers casual appointments that may arise during 2025 and up to the end of December, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Casual appointments can range from three-hour engagements to four-week appointments.
The Teacher Registration Directorate comprises the Registration and Customer Services Branch, the Investigations and Compliance Branch and the Policy and Quality Assurance Branch. The Directorate is responsible for providing secretariat services to the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA). The Directorate supports the Board’s mission of serving the public interest by ensuring that teachers are registered and teacher education programmes are accredited in accordance with relevant legislation and in the best interests of children.
The Role
In this role, Professional Standards Assessors assess teaching practice against the Professional Standards for Teachers in Western Australia at the Proficient career stage. For teachers to be eligible for Full Registration they must be able to demonstrate that they have met the Professional Standards at this stage.
Typically, assessments and recommendations about proficiency are undertaken at the educational venue. In some circumstances, however, teachers are unable to have their teaching practice assessed against the Professional Standards by an appropriate person at an education venue. In such cases, teachers can apply directly to the TRBWA for an assessment of their proficiency against the Professional Standards.
To be suitable for this role you will ideally have extensive teaching and/or educational leadership/management or mentoring experience and extensive knowledge and understanding of current pedagogy, classroom practice, quality teaching and extensive experience observing teachers’ practice and providing professional advice and constructive feedback.
Suitable applicants will ideally have high level understanding and experience in interpreting and applying the Professional Standards and in assessing against the requirements for the Professional Standards to make judgements as to whether a teacher’s practice meets the Proficient career stage.
