The Role
PEAC teachers are responsible for the planning, and delivery of supplementary extension and challenge programs for identified Gifted and Talented students in Years 5 & 6 in Primary Schools in the Western Australian public system. The PEAC programme in Pilbara is a diverse hybrid model requiring face to face teaching to Karratha based PEAC students delivered from the Millars Well Primary School, and online learning delivered remotely to the PEAC students located elsewhere throughout the Pilbara region (therefore some regional travel may be required).
The PEAC curriculum is closely aligned with the General Capabilities of the Western Australian Curriculum. These skills encompass the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that will assist students to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century. The successful candidate will be able to access previous units of work that can be implemented or used as inspiration for your own. Teacher creativity is encouraged.
Applicants with the following attributes will be highly regarded:
- Experience in programming work that demonstrates practical use of relevant models of differentiation to cater for gifted students
- Advocacy of the special learning, and social-emotional needs of high potential students
- Experience in catering for twice exceptional students
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Expertise with IT equipment and software
- Knowledge of contemporary research related to Gifted and Talented students.
- Responsibilities include:
- Development and delivery of engaging and challenging teaching and learning programs for gifted and talented students
- Participation in regional planning and program reviews
- Delivery of professional learning support and programs
- Provision of advice and support for parents
