
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
This position is all about supporting students with Special Needs Education Assistants to reach their potential in a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment. The role requires someone who is patient, compassionate, and has a strong desire to work collaboratively with others to ensure that students succeed both academically and socially.
Special Needs Education Assistants will assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. When required you would provide feedback on education and therapy programs in the evaluation process relating to the achievements and goals in special education.
Suitable applicants will ideally have high-level interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively and respectfully with all stakeholders to meet the needs of students. Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties. Suitable applicants will have the ability to support student growth, academically and socially, within the school setting. Being able to build respectful relationships with all staff and students is essential. Applicants with knowledge and experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), key word sign, AAC (Augmentative and alterative communication) devices, Minilit/Macqlit and Team Teach would be highly regarded. - Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
