The Commercial Services Directorate is part of the Finance and Commercial Services Division and has responsibility for the provision of support to the Department and Schools, for contract planning and management, insurance management, fleet management and commercial legal advice
The Role
The Senior Consultant manages department wide, medium risk procurement planning and initiation and contract management processes for the Department of Education. The role provides advice and guidance based on contemporary market and data analysis to elicit best value for money for the Department.
The role key responsibilities are:
- Provide procurement planning and policy advice to Business Areas to assist in initiating new procurements.
- Provide contract management advice and support to business contract managers ensuring contracts are managed aligning to Government best practice.
- Monitors and reviews Department goods and services procurement practices to provide ongoing quality assurance and compliance to Procurement Rules and Department policies.
If successful, you will apply and advise on state procurement frameworks, policies and best practice in procurement, ensuring that decision making is based on the principle of value for money, and alignment with wider Department and government objectives. You will be expected to act with integrity, comply with policy requirements and best practice when undertaking procurement activities and support others to do the same.
The Senior Consultant will maintain current knowledge and understanding of government procurement requirements, including Buy Local, engaging Western Australian Disability Enterprises and Registered Aboriginal Businesses, and sustainable procurement considerations.
