This is a 9-month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2025 with possible extension and/or permanency.

Parkwood Primary School (PS) opened in 1975 and is at the eastern end of the Fremantle-Peel Education District. The school sits adjacent to Lynwood Senior High School. Our students enjoy quality facilities, equipment, and resources to enhance their learning experiences.

Parkwood PS follows a whole school explicit teaching pedagogical framework with high impact teaching to support student success in literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas. Along side this, the school has embedded the Berry Street Education Model to create a safe and supportive learning environment fostering resilience, engagement and well-being.

The Role

As a Deputy Principal at our school, you would be an excellent educator, who possesses the ability to collaborate with, and coach our teachers to achieve outstanding student results. The successful applicant should be a team player, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to be able to engage with individuals at all levels. Knowledge of Explicit Instruction Pedagogy will be highly regarded.

Parkwood PS has three Deputy Principals who along with the Principal share responsibilities which are regularly rotated within the leadership team. The successful applicant will be able to work with the Principal and other deputies to progress the whole school vision. Integrated into our school is an Intensive English Centre which provides a supportive environment for students new to Australia from non-English speaking backgrounds to develop their skills in Standard Australian English. The three Deputies work collaboratively to support families and students enrolling in the Intensive English Centre. Experience working with children from an English as Additional Language Dialect (EALD) is desirable but not essential.
