The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. English Teachers at Karratha SHS will engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues to improve student results.
Suitable applicants should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Ideally, suitable applicants will challenge and confront complex and conventional practices to provide successful outcomes for students, and continually reflect on their own practices to enhance performance. The ability to adapt with and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded. Additionally, experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English would be considered advantageous.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Karratha Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 824 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
