The Role
We are seeking Associate Principals to join our team who are committed to making a difference and are ready to build upon their proven skills and abilities and take them to the next level. Suitable applicants should be motivated, practical, hard-working, innovative, resilient and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. They should have strengths in understanding and leading evidence-based, high impact instruction in literacy and numeracy. The leadership qualities and skills to build staff capacity and cultivate distributed leadership within a culture of high expectations is highly sought and proven experience would be advantageous. Suitable applicants should also have efficient, effective work habits and strong attention to detail.
Associate Principals work closely with the principal and members of the Executive Team to provide educational leadership in the school and the community. A significant responsibility of the Associate Principal role is to embed and maintain aspects of the school culture that promote positive relationships between students and staff, and engaging parents, caregivers and the wider community in the educational work of the school.
Ideally, successful applicants will have a strong understanding of and practical experience in applying restorative approaches to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Familiarity with the Berry Street Education Model is desirable, as it aligns with our commitment to fostering a trauma-informed, relationship-based environment that supports both student wellbeing and learning. Applicants with strong skills in managing student behaviour while supporting Teachers and Education Assistants in implementing effective strategies are highly regarded. Experience in leading Students At Educational Risk (SAER) is desirable.
Applicants should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contemporary curriculum and pedagogy, across a K-6 setting. The ideal candidates will be an instructional leader who can enhance staff capacity by modelling effective teaching practices and implementing high-quality, research-based learning programs. A deep understanding of differentiated instruction and strategies for supporting students at risk is essential. Applicants will have a proven track record of improving student outcomes and providing effective support to staff in implementing best practices.
The successful applicants should lead professional learning communities focused on student learning, data-driven practices, and professional collaboration. They should also play a pivotal role in whole-school programs. Ideally, applicants will have a strong understanding of the following: (PBS), Talk for Writing, Sounds Write, play-based learning, explicit instruction, effective data analysis skills, conceptual mathematics and Instruction, and Classroom Management Strategies.
A thorough understanding of the West Australian Curriculum, Quality Teaching Strategies (QTS) and contemporary teaching methodologies is crucial. The successful applicants should work closely with the administration team to build staff capacity, foster leadership development, and improve student achievement across the school. Line management across the K-6 setting will be determined based on individual strengths and the unique contributions you bring to the Yanchep Beach PS community. This will be discussed and negotiated with the executive team.
The ability to establish genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students and families is paramount. Knowledge and understanding of Classroom Management Strategies, Social and Emotional Learning and supporting students at educational risk are desirable to provide strong pastoral care that supports the health and wellbeing of all our students.
