The Branch
Statewide Services is seeking to appoint a motivated and committed Aboriginal Youth Support Coordinator to join the Service Allocation Prioritisation and Coordination team within the Service Planning and Coordination Directorate.

The Role
The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team consisting of a Program Coordinator, Aboriginal Youth Support Coordinators, Social Workers and Teachers who support students presenting with the most complex needs and their families, schools, Education Regional Office staff and Statewide Services business areas. Service provision can include identifying areas of need with families and supporting engagement with external services, partnering with services to increase the effectiveness of wraparound support, collaboration with key stakeholders and services to allow consistent support, and connecting Aboriginal families and young people with culturally appropriate agencies and supports.
As the Aboriginal Youth Support Coordinator, you will prioritise positive relationships between students, education staff and parents. Ideally you will display a sound understanding of the case management of students that includes knowledge of Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed practice and effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. You will also have an understanding of the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and its application in a school context.
The Aboriginal Youth Support Coordinator will work with other agencies to research, develop, implement and monitor plans for young people and families to access appropriate pathways for support, and will work collaboratively to promote an environment of positive quality learning experiences for all students.

- Demonstrated well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, negotiate and resolve conflict.
