
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Harrisdale Primary School (PS) opened its doors to students for the first time on February 1st, 2016. It caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and is currently one of the largest Primary Schools in the state.
The school is located in the rapidly growing suburb of Harrisdale and is bordered by natural bushland to the east, sporting grounds to the south and housing developments to the remaining boundaries. The student population is indicative of a diverse multi-cultural demographic with many nationalities represented.

The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant you will work and assist in education programs and promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Education assistants may assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to support students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills. Within this role you would provide feedback when required on education programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals.
You should have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members, parents, students and other providers to meet the needs of students. Applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.
The suitable applicants should possess effective interpersonal skills to develop a strong rapport with students, staff and families and will advocate as part of an effective team to promote success for all students. Under limited guidance, you will coordinate support for the effective implementation of education programs, both at school and for offsite activities, and liaise with all stakeholders to ensure the consistent delivery of programs across the school.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
