The Role
Armadale SHS invests heavily in learning support processes to maximise the opportunities available to our diverse student population. There is a whole school commitment to improve student literacy and numeracy success. The school has implemented one-on-one and small group intervention sessions using evidence-based learning programs.
The Education Assistant – Special Needs – Lead will ideally work closely with learning support staff to effectively foster engagement and improve student outcomes. In tandem with the Program Coordinator – Targeted Learning Services, suitable applicants should provide leadership and mentorship to other Education Assistants, making use of their excellent interpersonal skills to support staff development. Suitable applicants should model a proactive and positive approach to improving student outcomes; supporting the implementation and sustainability of intervention programs that are innovative, engaging and relevant to students.
Suitable applicants will ideally be student-centric and have the ability to provide strong leadership to staff. Ideally with considerable experience in supporting student learning, the Education Assistant – Special Needs – Lead will contribute to the implementation of a culture of excellence throughout the school; mentoring and training other Education Assistant staff to complete data analysis for student improvement, effectively manage student behaviour and promote a positive approach to learning. Suitable applicants should be passionate about ensuring all students can reach their highest potential and provide professional leadership to a team of diverse Education Assistants to assist in realising this goal.
We are seeking applications from individuals who are passionate about working in collaboration with staff to develop innovative strategies that foster student engagement. The Education Assistant – Special Needs – Lead will contribute to the design and implementation of documented solutions in response to identified student needs. The ability to collect, analyse and report on student-related data is desirable. Additionally, a key aspect of this role is arranging the timetable for the school; including one-on-one and small group intervention sessions across the school day. - Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs.
- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
