Halls Creek District High School (DHS) is seeking a vibrant and skilled educational leader. For this pro-active role, you will ideally be a strong leader who is able to work collaboratively with school staff and the wider community to ensure the highest standards of achievement for all students.
Halls Creek DHS is located in the Kimberley Region, between Broome and Kununurra. The students come from town and a number of local Aboriginal Communities within a 50km radius. There are 5 local language groups, the 3 most commonly spoken include Jaru. Kija and Gooniyandi. Kriol is also universally spoken across the Kimberley region.
Halls Creek DHS is a school in the Kimberley Schools Project. This Project is focused on improving the literacy and numeracy skills of students through the Targeted Teaching methodology. You will be required to continue to support the implementation of the Project in the school and support the growth and development of strategies to improve learning, attendance and engagement.

As the successful applicant, you will ideally be dedicated to optimising outcomes in all learning areas and committed to developing and mentoring staff. In addition, you will lead, manage and monitor the school improvement process through a current and critical understanding of the learning process and its implications for enhancing high quality teaching and learning in every classroom in the school. You will ideally possess a commitment to continuous school improvement, including building networks with other agencies and services in the community. Additionally, excellent understanding of the current curriculum requirements, as well as highly effective communication and interpersonal skills will be highly regarded.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Halls Creek District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
