
Rangeway Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Rangeway PS, located in Geraldton in the Midwest Region of WA. With enrolments of approximately 290 students, 74% are Aboriginal. Irregular attendance and high rates of transiency contribute to significant disadvantage factors which impact on learning potential of these students. The Role
We are seeking dedicated, passionate, and innovative Special Needs Education Assistants to join our vibrant school community and support students to reach their highest potential.
We are seeking applications from individuals who are committed to building and maintaining strong working relationships with staff and students. Suitable applicants will ideally have strong professional knowledge in supporting students with additional learning needs, including the ability to promote positive student engagement and behaviour. They will work to build a strong rapport with students, using their knowledge of disabilities and additional learning needs to ensure that a targeted learning support plan can be developed, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
The role of a Special Needs Education Assistant focuses primarily on the teaching and learning of students through assisting the teacher in delivering planned education programs and through the provision of a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
