The Role
The successful applicant will collaborate closely with other staff within our Positive Support Team. You will join a community of motivated educators committed to ensuring the wellbeing of its students. As the successful applicant, you will provide specialist psychological assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based intervention as well as consultation at the individual, group, whole college, and system level. Services will be provided in the areas of adolescent mental health and wellbeing, behaviour support and intervention, learning and motivation, emergency and critical incident management, risk assessment, risk assessment, as well as professional learning for college staff, parents, and caregivers.
You will be responsible for supporting staff and parents to put in place effective strategies that support the mental health and wellbeing of students. The successful applicant will ideally possess experience and knowledge in building staff capacity through professional learning, and the necessary skills to collaborate with teachers, sharing expert professional judgements and opinions. We are seeking an applicant who is adaptable, resilient, and resourceful; who is also able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and consult widely; and is able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently and proactively when required.
Coastal Lakes College located in Lakelands, a south-western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah, opened in 2019 and will cater for students from Year 7 through to Yr12 in 2024. We will continue to grow a cohort a year until 2024 when we will cater for students from Years 7 – 12. It is a new and innovative college which includes an Inclusive Education hub for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments (vision and hearing), challenging behaviours and/or autistic spectrum disorders.
The College has developed strong, innovative partnerships with its local primary schools and community organisations. A commitment to the College’s emphasis on pastoral care and co-curricular programs such as Zones of Regulation and You Can Do It! will be essential as well as active promotion of the College’s vision, motto and values within the College and wider community

- High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
