
We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you will be a highly valued colleague at our school. You will perform tasks that require discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, implement individual or small group programs or demonstrations and be able to provide valuable feedback to support student learning. They should be able to support programs relevant to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Physical Disability (PD), mental health and behavioural needs. Previous experience in working with students with ASD and trauma will be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies. They will, when required, provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
Delivering an orderly learning environment, through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework will be important to the role. Applicants should manage students with challenging behaviours in ways that preserve the integrity of the child. Our students are supported in their social and emotional wellbeing using evidence-based approaches, including the Zones of Regulation program.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
