The WA College of Agriculture Morawa is a highly regarded college providing Agricultural Education and Training to students in Years 10, 11 and 12. Students are attracted from across Western Australia to study specialised agriculture through a combination of Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) subjects, and nationally accredited certificates, with a focus on agriculture and the supporting trades.
The college is seeking an experienced secondary generalist teacher with Students at Educational Risk (SAER) skills, knowledge and experience. As a school that develops and grows its own leaders, an experienced teacher is sought with the skills and ability to transition in to a lead teacher role, including leading teaching and learning, explicit instruction, coaching and student services.
The College is located next to the town of Morawa, which is 100km from the coast and one and a half hours away from the services and amenities of the City of Geraldton. Small class sizes allow for program delivery, which offers the opportunity to work flexibly with the individual needs of each student in a case management approach.

The Role
The current role will require a secondary generalist teacher with skills, knowledge and experience at teaching and supporting Students At Educational Risk (SAER) who is ideally highly motivated, relationship-focused and passionate about creating exciting learning experiences.
As part of a small teaching staff, together with Vocational Education and Training (VET) Training Staff, there is a focus on Teaching for Impact and embedding the college explicit instruction model in the training areas of agriculture, automotive, engineering, horse care and aquaculture.
Teachers may be required to teach out of their learning area and a broad generalist teaching experience will be an advantage and highly regarded.
As part of the Student Services Team, the secondary generalist would support the college Positive Behaviour in Schools framework and the business plan priorities teaching, learning and training, wellbeing and residential care.
The successful applicant will ideally work with a commitment to and deep understanding of whole school approaches and initiatives, and work using an evidence-based approach. Together with the school psychologist, wellbeing officer, deputy principal and principal, the secondary generalist teacher will support embedding the college whole school plans and whole of college case management approach to wellbeing, education and training.
A growth mind-set, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for and understanding of agriculture and rural education will be highly regarded when addressing the criteria.

Teachers and school administrators employed at WA College of Agriculture - Morawa in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $1956 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
