Booragoon Primary School (PS), located in a bush setting close to Wireless Hill Reserve, was established in 1967. It is a local intake school, with students drawn from the suburbs of Booragoon and Alfred Cove. Booragoon offers an excellent educational environment for students and staff, comprising four teaching blocks, including an onsite Kindergarten, two purpose built Pre Primary units and a senior teaching cluster. With a high number of students participating in the instrumental music program, the arts feature prominently in the school’s calendar and overall identity.

The Role
Booragoon PS are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Music Teacher to join their team. We are looking for a teacher who stimulates imaginative and innovative responses and encourages students to reach their creative and expressive potential.
The successful applicant will ideally possess exemplary classroom management skills while instilling genuine passion and enthusiasm for Music in all students. They will possess a natural ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, their families and members of staff. The successful applicant would quickly establish a positive and welcoming classroom environment founded on high expectations for all students.
The successful candidate will ideally have an excellent understanding of The Arts – Music WA Curriculum and a capacity to deliver the content in an engaging manner. Experience working with ensembles, choirs and coordinating whole school performances will be highly regarded. A strong understanding of evidence-based teaching practices, such as explicit teaching, differentiated instruction and the DoE’s Teaching for Impact resources. Experience in managing the testing and allocation of students for the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) program is highly desirable. With almost one third of Year 3-6 students participating, the IMSS program is a vital part of the school’s identity.
