This is a twelve (12) month full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension.
Broome Senior High School has over 850 students and is located in one of WA's premier tourist locations. In 2012, Broome Senior High School was awarded the accolade of WA's Secondary School of the Year. In 2013, Broome Senior High School was granted Independent Public School (IPS) status and is a part of the Broome Cluster of Independent Public Schools with a string of achievements including 2014 YOH Fest winners, 2014 Rotary Pride Workmanship Award recipients and 2013 Registrar of the Year. The school's academic results over the past five years have been outstanding, with the school now firmly entrenched as one of the top 10 state schools in WA.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. An understanding and experience in the teaching of literacy skills is highly advantageous. As part of this role you will engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues to improve student results.
The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. The successful applicant will ideally understand and use culturally responsive practices and pedagogies. They will work with families, community and the STARS Foundation to support ongoing student success.
With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Ideally, you will challenge and confront complex and conventional practices to provide successful outcomes for students, and continually reflect on their own practices to enhance performance. The ability to adapt with and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded..

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Broome Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 108 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
