We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. The Role
In the role of Special Needs Education Assistant at South Bunbury PS, suitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to collaborate well as part of a team to create and maintain supportive, inclusive education programs and learning environments to meet the specific needs of our students.
Suitable applicants will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs including individual or small group settings and programs. Additionally, suitable applicants will have an understanding of trauma-informed practice and demonstrated experience with successfully implementing evidence-based strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The ability to take data on student behaviours, progress and interests is vital to ensuring a strengths-based and targeted approach to individual student planning.
Suitable applicants will ideally be organised and be able to use their initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment, including supporting students with access to digital technology. At South Bunbury PS we have a strong pastoral care program focused on Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Our whole school 'You Can Do It' in conjunction with our PBS approach supports the social emotional development and wellbeing of all students. These programs promote the positive behaviour expectations and emotional development needed to grow successfully both academically and socially.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
