We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
We are seeking flexible individuals who display the ability to work independently, are team players who enjoy working with children and have a strong sense of social perceptiveness. Suitable applicants should possess cultural awareness and be focused on delivering programs to individuals and groups, including those students with complex needs and diagnosed disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Development Delay, mental health, trauma and other developmental disabilities/disorders.
Suitable applicants should have the capacity to support the overall health and emotional well-being of our students and help them reach their full potential through the development of their academic, physical and social skills.
Building meaningful relationships with children and their families will be an important part of this role, and as such, effective communication and interpersonal skills are highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a professional team in assisting in the implementation of education programs, as well as high level organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers.
In addition to this, suitable applicants should have competent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs. Sound computer skills and the ability to create student resources are also desirable. In addition, applicants should possess a deep commitment to developing positive and productive relationships, embedding a proactive, inclusive, and respectful approach. Suitable applicants should be open to ongoing learning and development.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
