We are seeking to establish a pool of Senior Gardener – Handyperson for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The College is looking for an experienced Senior Gardener - Handyperson to manage the grounds and assist with general maintenance around the College. We currently have a full-time vacancy due to retirement however will consider a job share arrangement for suitable applicants

The Role
As Senior Gardener - Handyperson you lead and work alongside the Assistant Gardener - Handyperson and be responsible for maintaining, improving, and presenting our College grounds and gardens in an attractive, engaging, clean, safe, and tidy condition. You will also provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management.
Suitable applicants will perform minor repairs and maintenance, as well as other gardener and handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
Applicants who are self-motivated, use initiative, work efficiently when unsupervised, have strong gardening and handyperson skills, and are proactive in their approach to both gardening and general maintenance are strongly encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded.
Applicants will ideally have good interpersonal and communication skills to maintain accurate gardening records and manage staff performance. You should have strong leadership skills to supervise the tasks and workload undertaken by the Assistant Gardener and provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on College grounds and maintenance matters. In this role, you will ideally have a passion for the outdoors and an ability to lead staff as you work with team members to create and maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and enjoyable outdoor environment for staff, students, and the community.
All gardeners must complete a mandatory two (2) day induction training program through the Department of Education and should undertake regular refresher courses.
