We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Dianella Secondary College Education Support Centre (SC ESC) is a Positive Education School for students with disability from Year 7 to Year 13. Many of our students have complex communication needs. The school is a safe and supportive community that offers a suite of engaging educational programs catering to students' individual needs. The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers and other staff to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. Priorities include communication, human relationships and pathways for life after school. Knowledge of Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), Workplace Learning, Team Teach, The Ziggurat Model, Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and Enterprise programs is desirable.
To be suitable for this role you should be organised and able to use your initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment. These skills will also be utilised to aid teachers by assisting with the general care and well-being of students. Suitable applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom and playground settings.

- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students
