Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and innovative English Teacher to join our team.
The Role
We are seeking an English teacher who is highly effective in engaging and motivating students and can build productive relationships with students, staff and the community. The successful applicant will form part of a dedicated English team that plans, develops, delivers and reviews a comprehensive curriculum from years 7 to 12. Strong classroom management skills will be essential, along with a commitment to achieve the best educational outcomes for all students.
The successful applicant will ideally possess best practise in inclusive education, cultural responsiveness, ICT in the classroom, use of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and trauma informed practice. They will build engagement in the classroom using Geraldton Senior High School’s SEEK model of lesson structure and explicit instruction, which specifically supports the DoE Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact document.
There is an expectation that the successful applicant will engage in reflective practice that is informed by classroom observation, student feedback and analysis of student achievement data. Literacy Specialist experience is highly desirable.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Geraldton Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
