The Temporary Employment Register is an online portal that allows you to register your interest in joining the Department of Education for fixed term, full-time and part-time temporary opportunities for up to twelve (12) months that may arise across the Department’s Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate.
We often have short term vacancies when our employees take extended leave, undertake other roles within the Department, or are seconded to other public sector agencies. We also expect that there will also be fixed term opportunities arising from high priority projects and new initiatives that may commence in 2025.
The Department of Education’s priority and focus remains on appointing merit based selected staff, permanently.

Our Branch
Education is one of the largest state government agencies with a $6.8 billion operating budget, the Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate oversees this large and complex budget, working with over 800 schools, central and regional offices to deliver public education across the State.
The Directorate includes the following four branches:
- Budget Strategy and Resourcing develops external budget submissions, compiles budget statements, reviews tariffs, fees and charges and undertakes cost and demand modelling.
- Intergovernmental Finance provides expert strategic financial advice and information to comply with financial requirements under Commonwealth and State funding agreements.
- Budget Management and Analysis oversees and monitors central and regional offices budgets, prepares monthly financial reports to the Department’s Executive and prepares costings that are used in EBA negotiations for teachers, school psychologists, education assistants and other employees.
- School Funding manages the Department’s Student Centred Funding Model, provides financial advice and administers the transfer of funds to Western Australian public schools.
