The Role
We are looking for highly competent and ideally experienced Education Assistants with a passion for working with students with special needs. The priorities and goals of this position are to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, physical and social skills. Experience working with students with Autism is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will ideally have the knowledge of effective strategies to support students, combined with the ability to be highly organised and use initiative. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs, including managing small groups of students under the direction of the teacher. In addition, you will also assist in the application of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, literacy and physiotherapy programs, while providing support to the teacher or therapist.
You will ideally help students develop their skills, reach key milestones and contribute to their well-being. It is important that applicants have a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change to produce the best opportunities for students. Applicants who have skills in supporting the medical needs of students, such as catheterisation, Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding and working with students with limited mobility (wheelchairs) is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants should possess a deep commitment to developing positive and productive relationships and embedding a proactive and respectful approach in all interactions. Suitable applicants should also have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour and have experience or knowledge of disabilities in the school setting.

- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
