The Role
Are you an exemplary, reflective teacher who promotes active learning and has high expectations of students? Do you possess a growth mindset and are ready to take on new challenges? Kelmscott SHS is expanding rapidly, and we are now seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Agriculture Teacher to join our flourishing school.
The successful applicant should have a belief that every student is capable of successful learning and exhibit highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. This will include a sound knowledge both theoretical and practical in all aspects of Agriculture and/or Horticulture with an emphasis on Animal Production.
A capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner are desirable qualities. The ability to teach any of the following courses and will be an advantage:
- Animal Production Systems Years 11 -12
- Biology
- Agriculture Years 7-10
- Horticulture Years 7-10
- Animal Care
The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.
A strong record of working in constructive collaboration with a variety of school teams will be a distinct advantage. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be highly regarded, as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents, and community. The Agricultural Faculty requires an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration due to the practical nature of the courses and the need to share resources. Somone capable of offering new skills and knowledge to the existing team would be highly sort after.
