The Role
East Kimberley College is seeking a suitably qualified, passionate and committed Mathematics Teacher to join our team. At East Kimberley College we strive for excellence by nurturing individual abilities, providing meaningful opportunities and fostering positive, respectful relationships.
The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to work across Year 7 to Year 12 and bring their expertise to the Learning Area, applying their knowledge of the Mathematics Western Australian Curriculum to help our students achieve outstanding results. Experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Mathematics is desirable.
To be successful in this role, you will be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as demonstrating an engaging and energetic teaching style. You will ideally promote an environment of active and positive learning, and promote educational opportunities and activities which enable all students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you should work closely with you colleagues to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. East Kimberley College has a strong focus on Explicit Instruction, the successful applicant will ideally possess experience in utilising this pedagogical approach to deliver a highly engaging Secondary English curriculum. The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position.
Location and Community
Kununurra is the eastern gateway to the Kimberley and offers many opportunities for adventure seekers. Throughout March to October the weather is mild, the surroundings are lush green, and there are many camping and hiking opportunities within a short drive. Lake Kununurra is a 56km stretch of fresh water that runs along the edge of the Town of Kununurra and connects to Lake Argyle, making easy access for fishing and boating. Throughout December to February the wet season fills the local springs and turns on local waterfalls, making Kununurra a beautiful place to live all year round.
For those wanting to explore the Kimberley, the Gibb River Road begins 58kms outside of Kununurra and runs all the way to Broome via a series of sealed and unsealed roads. Campsites and gorges are dotted all the way along. Kununurra also connects to Broome via the sealed Great Northern Highway, which runs through Halls Creek and the Fitzroy Valley Crossing.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at (East Kimberley College in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $8 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
