Menzies Community School is situated 130kms north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and is a highly supportive, welcoming and inclusive school. The current school population of 21 includes not only students from Menzies township but also students who travel by bus each day from Morapoi Station.
Menzies is a calm, friendly community with collegiate staff who regularly enjoy social badminton, city weekend shopping in Kalgoorlie and visiting local sights such as Lake Ballard (Astro tourism, Antony Gormley exhibition), catching yabbies at local dams and visiting historic gold mining towns along the Golden West Discovery Trail on the weekends. Strong collegiate networks between the northern schools offer opportunities for friendship and collegial experiences.
The school currently has two primary classes one of which is a dedicated Early Childhood centre (K-2), Years (3-6), as well as a high school room (7-12) in which supervision is provided for students who are enrolled in subjects through the School of Isolated and Distance Education. Our students learn Key Word Signs, Auslan and Wangkatja languages. The school amenities include a health fitness centre, breakfast room, playgroup, new sensory playground, sensory room, heritage buildings, vegetable and fruit gardens, multi-purpose court and a new under covered area due for completion in 2025.

The Role
As a Secondary Generalist Teacher, you will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging, and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs. You will ideally have the ability to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and have an excellent understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. We are seeking a Teacher who has strong classroom management and skills to engage students successfully.
The successful applicant should be motivated and committed to creating an engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning environment; based on high accountability and sound expectations to ensure all students achieve their maximum potential. You will ideally be flexible, have a strong work ethic, and develop positive, productive partnerships with students, colleagues, and the community.. In 2025 we have been selected to be part of Ngaparrtji Ngaparrtji Two-way Science program of action learning in 2025 and Habitats for Wildlife 2025 pilot program through Perth Zoo.
Liaising with SIDE Teachers, facilitating work experience and supporting ASDAN units will be part of your role as well as whole school activities/projects.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Menzies Community School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
