The Employee Relations Directorate is responsible for ensuring that industrial instruments and legislative frameworks are complied with and that employees are supported in a range of discrete human resource matters. The Employee Relations Directorate is made up of two branches: Labour Relations and Employee Support Bureau. The Directorate further provides strategic and operational advice to the Minister, Director General, school leaders and line managers on a range of employee relations matters.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to fill the role of Manager, Labour Relations. This key position will drive the development and implementation of labour relations policies and practices, aligned with departmental goals and industrial reforms. As the Manager, you will lead a dedicated team, overseeing industrial reform projects and ensuring the application of best practices in productive labour relations, workplace flexibility, and improved employment conditions. You will play a pivotal role in adapting processes and frameworks to meet client needs and support an evolving workforce within the constraints of legislation and economic factors.
In this role, you will provide high-level advice on complex labour relations matters to senior stakeholders, including the Minister and Director General. Responsibilities include coordinating the resolution of industrial disputes, grievances, and performance issues, as well as representing the Department in senior-level forums and industrial tribunals. A crucial part of your work will involve building strong partnerships with unions and ensuring staff performance and leave entitlements are managed in accordance with public sector standards.
