The Role
Our purpose is to make a positive difference to the lives of young people. The focus of our work is on quality teaching provision of the widest range of opportunities for individual achievement and learning success. In keeping with this, the successful applicant should be committed to progressing the shared vision of our English learning area and maximising the engagement and progress of all students.
Succesful applicants with a deep knowledge of the Year 7 to 12 English curriculum will be highly regarded. Outstanding application of assessment and reporting practices, which include a high level of data analysis skills to monitor the progress of students and classes; along with experience in planning and delivering programs for a range of student’s capabilities, including academic extension and special education needs, is desirable.
Ideally, succesful candidates will be highly motivated, student and relationship focused, and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. Working within a dynamic team, the successful applicant will utilise their highly effective interpersonal skills to work closely with students, colleagues, and the community to assist students to achieve to their potential.
The following additional elements would be highly desirable:
- Experience teaching students from non-English speaking backgrounds and EALD.
- Experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General Senior
School classes, including Foundation.
- Experience in planning and delivering programs for students who are academically motivated and students who require a modified curriculum as intervention.
Actively implementing Lynwood’s approach to Tier 1 consistent practice, using high impact teaching strategies and the principles of Explicit Instruction (EI), will be central to the position. Additionally in 2025, Lynwood Senior High School is a fully integrated Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, thus experience in implementing ICT based learning opportunities for students in English will be highly desirable.
