The Role
The successful applicant would ideally possess a sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum; be able to deliver content in an engaging manner; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member. The successful applicant will teach Mathematics to students from Year 7 to 10 with a range of ability levels. They will ideally have the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, motivational, and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs. The desired applicant may be asked to teach some options classes and possibly some Primary classes. These classes are negotiable, depending on interests and skills. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community. They should be willing to participate in ongoing professional growth and development activities, support current whole school processes and be collegial, effective collaborators.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Carnamah District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
