The Role
Donnybrook DHS is seeking a highly motivated and committed Primary Deputy Principal to join their leadership team. In collaboration with the Principal, the Deputy Principal provides an important layer of educational leadership at the Junior Campus.
The successful applicant should ideally bring a solid and effective teaching and learning background, reflective of the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact and Donnybrook District High School’s Agreed Approach. This professional knowledge and practice will be utilised to support our curriculum leaders lead Literacy and Numeracy from Kindergarten - Year 6, whilst also enhancing the effectiveness of our Professional Learning Community. A key element of this role will involve observing and coaching staff and the provision of meaningful feedback that supports the staff to address the school’s priority areas.
Additionally, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of the school’s Case Management Model - designed to provide comprehensive support through clearly aligned strategies and interventions to support our students at educational risk.
Donnybrook District High School has a focus on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), recognising the genuine need to ensure our students have a strong sense of belonging and purpose. The Deputy Principal will play a key role in supporting the Principal implement the school’s comprehensive SEL Plan. Our schoolwide approach incorporates explicit SEL instruction, youth agency and voice, supportive learning environments, positive behaviour management, integrated support, partnerships and systems for continuous improvement.
The position is well suited to an agile leader who can perform at a high level in both operational and leadership spaces. They should be actively committed to supporting the school’s improvement strategies as outlined in the 2023-27 Business Plan, Your Child: Our Focus.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Donnybrook DHS in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
