At Koorana Education Support Centre, our teaching and support staff are highly trained and experienced professionals in the field of Special Needs and Disabilities Education. All our teaching and learning programs focus on a functional, relevant, engaging curriculum which improves students' independence skills in preparation for high school. Our high ratio of staff to students ensures that teaching and learning is highly individualised. The student is at the centre of all we do, we aim to work with therapists, families and caregivers to provide a balanced program which focuses on the whole child, meeting their academic, social and emotional needs.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. The successful applicant should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
They will plan, program and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. The successful applicant will also ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.
