Communications and Media are seeking to establish a pool of Communications Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2024 and up to the end of November, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
We currently have one permanent full-time appointment available commencing ASAP.
The Communications directorate works to ensure all our activities enhance the image and reputation of the Department and promote WA Government initiatives in education.
Our collective skills transform department and state government initiatives into strategies that drive social and behavioural change helping to ensure students, families, communities and Department staff are aware of, and connected to the values of public education in Western Australia.
We work with our stakeholders to achieve their goals in creative and innovative ways. We do this by providing a range of services to all areas of the Department, including:
- Internal and external communications
- Communications campaigns and strategies
- Brand management
- Strategic communications advice
- Media strategy and management, stakeholder engagement and relationship management
- Public Relations and marketing activities for a wide range of programs and audiences.
The position we are hoping to fill asap is the:
- Level 4 Communications Officer – Digital Content
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic communications all-rounder who is organised, has creative flair, a ‘can-do’ approach, loves meaningful and varied work, and thrives from being part of an energetic and collaborative team.
You will be working as a part of the Digital Content team, that has a range of responsibilities, including:
- planning, coordinating and producing podcasts, including on-air responsibilities, that promote education in Western Australia
- writing clear and engaging content for a range of Department platforms
- collaborating with the wider Communications team, and with a range of key stakeholders, to support delivery of cross-functional projects
- managing queries and workflow for the Digital Content team and supporting team members in line with policies and processes and digital best practice
- monitoring and reporting on digital product performance and contributing to the continuous improvement of the same
- providing administrative support and working closely with the Manager of Digital Content to deliver effective services for the organisation.
Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, you will need a high level of attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Experience in producing podcasts is essential. Experience in using content management systems will be an advantage. Experience using design programs, such as InDesign and Premier Pro, plus social media management tools, will also be an advantage, but are not essential.
