The Role
Donnybrook District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, passionate motivated and enthusiastic Secondary Home Economics Teacher.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to provide students with the highest quality curriculum delivery and programs within the Technologies (Home Economics) Learning Area. Ideally able to self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
We value the linking of learning with real world experiences and how this enables connections they can take into pathways beyond school. You should have thorough understanding of instructional and curriculum design, whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. Utilising effective interpersonal skills, you would work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Suitable applicants will ideally be able to display differentiated teaching practices within the classroom, and skills and strategies that support the development of the Food Production and Textiles curriculum across classes of varied abilities. Due to the increasing depth and breadth of District High School subject offerings, the role may additionally require you to teach outside of the Technologies learning area.
Our school is seeking a teacher that can focus on optimising learning though a strong reflective, collaborative practice guided by student results and importantly aligned to our 'Agreed Approach'. Professional Learning Communities are embedded throughout the school, with all staff engaged and contributing to fortnightly meetings guided by Action Learning Models. A commitment to ongoing professional learning and development including observation and feedback is important.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Donnybrook DHS in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
