The Role
The successful applicant should be an expert, passionate teacher of Information Technology, ideally with a dedicated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. You should display the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary Information Technology curriculum from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses. The applicant should also have a strong understanding of computer hardware and software which can be incorporated into student courses. Some of the hardware includes 3D printers, Virtual reality headsets and Robotics equipment. Applicants who wish to work on a reduced FTE are also welcome to apply.
As a Quality Teaching Strategy Lead School, the successful applicant should be familiar with the Teaching for Impact framework and ideally understand what effective teachers believe, know and do, to enable students to succeed. Ideally the applicant should also be willing to contribute to extra-curricular programs including Robotics.
It would be deemed advantageous for the applicant to have knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics development (STEM). Working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education to provide varied opportunities for students including attending and organising STEM based events. The applicant will work closely with colleagues to build learning programs that are engaging, and which incorporate industry-based technology and skills. Armadale SHS has a Specialist Information Technology program which encourages students to examine various fields of Information Technology including Coding, Game design and Robotics. The successful applicant will gain experience in these areas through interaction with colleagues and peer mentoring opportunities.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices would be considered favourably.
The successful applicant will ideally be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. They should be motivated, practical, hardworking and innovative and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will ideally pursue excellence in classroom teaching and provide encouragement and support to all colleagues. The successful applicant should make student academic achievement the core of their work. Additionally, a positive attitude and an appetite for challenge are highly desirable.
