Northampton District High School (DHS) is located in the rural setting of Northampton, 54km north of Geraldton. Providing high quality education for the local community, it caters to children from Kindergarten to Year 10.
The school has nine (9) all-purpose classrooms that are used by both the Primary and Secondary students in addition to a custom-built library, Early Childhood Centre, manual arts room, home economics room and art room. It also has two computer laboratories which are linked to the Internet and are well equipped.
Students benefit from having committed and experienced teaching and support staff, many of whom are long-standing members of the community. The school has a Principal and Deputy Principal who share responsibility for the Secondary and Primary students.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills to collaboratively work with staff members in meeting the needs of students. You will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.
The successful applicant should have the knowledge of effective strategies to support students, combined with the ability to be highly organised and use initiative. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs eg Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), which includes managing small groups of students under the direction of the teacher to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, physical, and social skills.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents, and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
