The Role
As a School Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students are attending school and participating in educational programs. Your main responsibilities will be to assist school communities in finding ways to improve student attendance, participation, and engagement in educational programs. This includes monitoring student attendance, attendance bus runs, producing absence reports, visiting local communities, identifying patterns in absenteeism, and working with teachers and the school administration team to develop and implement individual student attendance improvement plans.
You will also have the opportunity to communicate with parents and carers to verify student absences, provide advice on school attendance processes, and build relationships between families and the school to encourage attendance. Additionally, you will have the chance to work with school staff and the wider community to address obstacles to school attendance and assist in the development of community activities and projects aimed at improving student attendance.
