The Role
We are searching for a teacher to work with students, helping them envision and connect with their future career aspirations. The emphasis will be on ensuring that each student benefits from personalised and cohort-based career pathway planning. This requires effective collaboration with school staff, specialists, industry representatives, training providers, government agencies, and community partners to equip our students for post-school opportunities in the evolving landscape of work, training or further study.
Our ideal Career Practitioner is an innovator with the ability to work collaboratively across the school. Working closely with the Senior School Pathway Coordinator and wider college leadership team, you will organise events such as career and skills expos, trade tasters and engage with training and industry professionals. The ideal applicant should be innovative and will implement programs and provide resources to embed career development across learning areas. Additionally, teachers in this specialised role should be proficient in interpreting and analysing system and school-based data. A portion of teaching duties may be associated with this role, based on the needs of the college.
To be competitive for this role, knowledge of the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of how this relates to school contexts in relation to local employers, community agencies and training providers is desirable. Career Practitioners should ideally have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, training providers, employers and industry. The Career Practitioner will also work collaboratively with TAFE’s and Universities to provide meaningful opportunities linked to students’ future pathways.
