Ellenbrook Primary School (PS) are seeking to appoint two Education Assistants – English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) for appointments to vacancies in the 2025 school year.
This is an exciting time for Ellenbrook PS because the school is opening a brand-new Intensive English Centre (IEC) to cater to the needs of initial EAL/D learners in the local and surrounding areas. The opening of this new IEC brings with it opportunities to invite new staff into our school to work with students who will genuinely benefit from the work done here at Ellenbrook IEC. These positions give you the opportunity to make a genuine difference in these students’ lives.

The Role
Education Assistants - EAL/D focus is to assist teachers in the delivery of appropriate EAL/D curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices and maximising everyday language learning opportunities. The successful applicant should support the education and settlement of newly arrived migrant and refugee background students through assisting teachers in the delivery of education programs, supporting students with settlement issues, interpreting in a range of contexts to ensure students, parents and the school community communicate effectively through providing advice and background on cultural issues.
We are looking for Education Assistants particularly familiar with languages of Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Tagalog, Filipino and Arabic to join our team, however all applications are welcomed from every language group.

- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team and provide multi-cultural direction in the development and evaluation of English language programs, language resources, and individual or group education plans reflective of diverse school communities.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing culturally and linguistically inclusive educational programs.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
