The Role
Aveley Secondary College is seeking to appoint a hardworking an enthusiastic Education Assistant Special Needs Lead (EASNL) to assist teachers and EA’s.
The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos, and whole school approaches. The EASNL will work under limited guidance and can be expected to participate within a team situation, offering advice and expertise in working with students with disabilities and learning difficulties.
EASNL's role is to lead, mentor, coach, and model good practices for other Education Assistants, both Special Needs and Mainstream. You will plan and deliver the worksite induction and training of other Education Assistants. On a daily basis you will be responsible for ensuring relief staff are aware of their role and responsibilities for the day. In consultation with teachers, parents/caregivers and colleagues, or other relevant professionals, you will contribute to the design and implementation of documented plans and provide solutions and support to teachers, which promote positive student behaviour and improved educational outcomes in the classroom. You may be required to work closely with the Learning Support Co-ordinator to ensure that all student diagnostic documentation is up to date and contribute to the design and implementation of documented plans / IEPs for students to ensure teachers are kept informed through detailed planning documentation.
The successful applicant may be required to perform tasks which require discretion in problem solving, decision making and choosing methods and processes to achieve outcomes. It would be highly desirable for you to have experience in dealing with students with a range of learning needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, trauma informed practice and severe mental health diagnoses and to be constantly student-focussed, with the ability to remain calm in an emergency. You ideally be highly organised, have the ability to work with limited supervision. You will ideally have experience as an Education Assistant and should be able to think outside the box, on the go.

- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
