Newton Moore Education Support Centre (ESC) seeking to establish a pool of Vocational Trainers and Assessors for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Newton Moore ESC is an Independent Public School nestled in the thriving and idyllic coastal City of Bunbury, WA. The Centre is specifically designed to meet the needs of Years 7 to 12 students with intellectual disabilities. We offer a caring, respectful, small school environment where all students participate and actively engage in all facets of school life.
Our school has been recognised as an Excellent Public School, central to this award was our innovative programs but most importantly the outstanding staff who are passionate about our students.
At Newton Moore ESC we believe that effective teachers build relationships and connections which are key to student success. We are role models and lead by example in our classes.
We know strong self-reflection is important and take opportunities to grow. We acknowledge and challenge our cultural responsiveness and seek to learn. We take opportunities to know our students from all transition points in school and all areas of their wellbeing. We take an interest in them as individuals and all they can add to our school tapestry.
We plan with the child at the centre, with families and young people, through IEP’s and Person Centred Plans. We differentiate our learning through tiered responses and collaborative planning. Our learning is delivered through strong relationships and structured routines with clear, taught expectations. We create safe learning spaces with tiered supports and trained staff to build student academic, social and pastoral needs.
We teach our students in the way they prefer to learn; we recognise our learners are individuals and required approaches that meet where they are at, as we do with assessment.

The Role
We are looking for Vocational Trainer and Assessors to join our friendly and collaborative team.
Newton Moore ESC recognises the need for our Upper School students to experience a professional work environment. As such the Community Work Centres (CWC) were established, where real life situations are replicated in a safe and controlled setting. There are four such settings: a Workshop which creates wood craft to sell in our “Retail” space, “Workcrew” for landscaping services to community organisations and our “Office” to deliver business services to our school and/or community. We are looking for Trainer and Assessors who can lead in our community work centres, preferably with trade knowledge and skill.
Our school offers far more than ‘just another job’. We offer a busy and vibrant workplace where really good people work hard together; regular and well-structured team meetings to keep you ‘in the loop’ and give you a voice; ongoing opportunities for you to present and implement approved ideas that improve your work practices and an environment that is centred on providing quality education to our students. Our culture is one of reflection, collaboration, trust and positive relationships. We are always seeking to learn and provide feedback in all we do.
In addition to these attributes, suitable applicants will have the knowledge and skills to contribute to the establishment of an exceptional Education Support program. Key elements of this program include creating an environment that:
- engages, enthuses and challenges students.
- classroom management and positive behaviour Support (PBS) are displayed.
- incorporates technology where possible.
- accommodates individual student needs.
- provides timely social and academic feedback to students and parents.
- cares for the whole student.
- celebrates curiosity and creativity.
If you feel you have what we are looking for please go ahead and apply.
