The Role
Our school is seeking to recruit a a passionate Specialist Teacher in Japanese for a part-time position, focusing on Years 3 to 6 Languages, with the potential for full-time employment. We are looking for an educator who will enrich students’ understanding of the Japanese language and culture, while also connecting our school with broader international communities through cultural exchange.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will join a collaborative team of specialist teachers, bringing cross-curricular connections to life and fostering a love for learning. While the primary focus is on delivering high-quality Japanese language instruction to Years 3 to 6, there is a highly desirable opportunity for applicants with the ability to teach in other curriculum areas within the Junior Years (PP-2).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging Japanese language lessons for Years 3 to 6, aligned with the Languages curriculum.
- Actively promote Japanese culture throughout the school, fostering inclusivity and cultural awareness.
- Support and nurture our partnership with Gold Education: Japanese Student Exchange, facilitating meaningful exchange opportunities for students.
- Engage with the school community and beyond, using the languages program as a means to connect and build cultural bridges.
- Collaborate with other specialist teachers to integrate cross-curricular learning and engage students in a range of subjects.
Key Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Familiarity with the Year 3 to 6 Languages curriculum and the ability to adapt lessons to diverse student needs.
Desirable Qualities:
- Willingness to teach additional curriculum areas for Junior Years (PP-2), expanding the role’s potential to full-time.
- Commitment to promoting Japanese language and culture within the school, with a genuine interest in facilitating cultural exchange programs with our partner, Gold Education: Japanese Student Exchange.
