The Role
The role of the Student Services Officer is pivotal in ensuring a responsive and effective support system for our students. The successful applicant will ideally possess extensive experience in positive behaviour management and strategies, including Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA), behavioural data tracking, and engagement strategies. They should be adept at developing and implementing risk management plans tailored to the unique needs of students with complex requirements.
A working knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is advantageous. The applicant will ideally be skilled in liaising with therapists, other agencies, and parents to create a cohesive support network. An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to utilize a range of programs and strategies to teach and support self-regulation skills is optimal.
Excellent interpersonal skills are paramount, as the role involves establishing and maintaining positive professional relationships with students, families, and staff. The ideal applicant will be proactive, resourceful, and committed to the holistic well-being and development of every student. Additionally, they should display the ability to contribute as an active member within student services team. The ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and education assistants in providing targeted support and advice on adjustments for students with complex needs is important to this role.
