The Role
As a Student Support Officer at Rivervale PS, you will assist in development and implementation of systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for students, family members and staff. You will also assist in the development and implementation of the strategies to support Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will help develop supportive links between the student, the family, the school and other appropriate agencies in the community and establish a network of partnerships with other government and non-government agencies.
Additionally, you will actively participate in team meetings and case conferences within the school and with other agencies as appropriate. Assist the School Administration team in crisis management and response duties as required. Undertake research on current issues for children, participate in projects and provide written reports as required. Help promote differentiated learning strategies throughout the school – using coaching and modelling. Organise professional learning for staff linked to SEN priorities, programs, and planning. Lead a team of Teacher Allied Professionals (TAPS) and Special Needs Allied Professionals (SNAPS). Coordinating team meetings which includes setting agendas, liaising with other team leaders and reporting regularly to the Principal and or Deputy Principal.
