The Role
We are looking for Education Assistants – Special Needs who are passionate about working with students and supporting them to exceed their potential. Ideal candidates are committed to the belief that every child can learn and succeed. You should be dedicated to fostering an environment that promotes growth and achievement, with student-centred decision-making at the forefront.
In addition, we seek Education Assistants dedicated to maximising their impact on student learning and thriving in a team environment. Our staff maintains high expectations and support all student to achieve their goals. As a team member, you will embrace and help deliver evidence-based strategies implemented across the school to address student needs. The learning environment you create should be engaging, inclusive, challenging, and caring, catering to a range of needs to promote positive student wellbeing, engagement and learning.
We are looking for enthusiastic team members who show initiative in adapting tasks to meet student needs, reflect on their practice, and welcome observation and feedback to guide their professional growth. You should contribute your expertise and collaborate with staff to support and monitor student progress.
Suitable applicants will assist students with special needs while working closely with class teachers and other support staff. You should be team-oriented, able to support students across a range of special needs, and demonstrate strong behaviour management skills, particularly in handling challenging or complex behaviours.
Additionally, you will contribute to strengthening a positive culture grounded in high expectations for student learning and behaviour. We seek applicants who are passionate about collaborating with students, families, colleagues and the wider community to achieve individual student outcomes. A can-do attitude, along with the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, is essential. - Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
