Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Mainstream Education Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.
Geraldton SHS is an inclusive, diverse, and vibrant, growing school of choice located in a coastal, connected community. In 2019 the school transitioned to a Year 7 to 12 campus with an additional 3-year groups added to the school site. The school has adjusted well to this change and staff have worked to ensure younger students are catered for and provided with opportunities throughout their six years of schooling. The first group of Year 7 students will complete Year 12 in 2024.

The Role
As a Mainstream Education Assistant positioned predominantly in the Physical Education team, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs for small groups of students. The successful applicant will support the physical education and health education classes, and which will include attending overnight camps and excursions as required. The successful applicant should ideally be physically fit to be able to support the teaching staff with outdoor education and sporting activities.
Key roles and responsibilities for the mainstream EA would include:
- Maintenance and repair of equipment (bikes, canoes, snorkelling gear, fishing equipment etc.)
- Purchasing of equipment.
- Bus maintenance and booking of servicing etc.
- Liaising with external providers (bike shop etc.)
- Assisting teachers in classes.
It would also be desirable if you also held a LR manual, or higher, bus licence along with a Community Surf Rescue or equivalent qualification.
