We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Riverton Education Support Centre (ESC) has students from extremely varied backgrounds, with over 40 nationalities and languages. We actively celebrate and embrace the diversity of cultures in a variety of ways. Within the Education Support Centre, we cater for a variety of different nationalities, diagnosis and a range of abilities.
Riverton ESC currently has 46 students enrolled. At Riverton the five ESC classrooms are situated next to their age appropriate mainstream peers. The physical set out of the school is also of an inclusive nature. All students on our campus have the same play areas and lunch breaks at the same time, all students are supervised by both mainstream and ESC staff. Our staff members are integrated closely with our mainstream colleagues, sharing resources, rooms, timetables, committees and Education Assistants across our campus.
Riverton ESC is located in Riverton and co-located on the same site as Riverton Primary School. Both schools on the Campus acquired Independent Public School status in 2016.

The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant at Riverton ESC you will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned educational programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will work under the direction of a teacher and will be required to share your professional knowledge, with your peers, collaborate with school community members, administration and para-professionals to support student achievement. We are seeking staff with a commitment to enhancing student’s learning opportunities through on- going reflective classroom practises and a commitment to plan and engage in professional learning opportunities. Suitable applicants should show a willingness to contribute and be part of a positive team environment.
The Education Assistants at Riverton ESC are required to be able to work across all year levels from Kindy to Year 6. The applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students with additional needs. They will work under the direction of the teacher and work pro-actively with all staff members across the campus. Suitable applicants will ideally have knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and knowledge of Augmentative/Alternative Communication Strategies.
At the Campus we have specialist teachers in the areas of Music, Physical Education, STEM and Science. Some of the students from the centre attend these sessions with additional support. Suitable applicants will support students from the ESC who attend mainstream classrooms at various times and priorities are individualised based on the needs of the student. Education Assistants may be required to attend mainstream classes and take groups of students, implementing and monitoring programmes as required.

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
