Kent Street SHS is an Independent Public School located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele from across WA (Western Australia) who travel great distances or reside at the Rotary Residential College located on our site to engage in our approved specialist programs. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area. The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Drama teacher with excellent interpersonal skills. Our school embraces our core values of ‘Respect, Resilience and Responsibility’ and we are looking for teachers who will promote these core values. The successful applicant should have the knowledge and skills necessary to apply a range of high impact engaging teaching strategies and develop a positive classroom learning environment. Our teachers are dedicated and intrinsically motivated educators who have the ability to develop and differentiate high quality teaching and learning programs, to meet the needs of our students. The successful applicant will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. Similarly, the successful applicant will ideally be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Years 7 to 12 in a highly engaging manner, be highly motivated, possess data literacy skills and monitoring processes, and be student and relationship focused. The successful applicant should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Drama curriculum.
The successful applicant should support the implementation of the school’s business plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence-based approach to teaching. As part of their standard practice, teachers should embrace opportunities to reflect on and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practices using a variety of methods available within the school. We are seeking teachers that will have a growth mindset and a desire for continuous improvement.
Finally, the successful applicant should place high emphasis on parent partnerships and desires to communicate with parents regularly throughout the year. We are seeking highly organised people who have good communication skills, are solution focussed and want to contribute to the entire school community.
